glass straws save the environment, that's what i like about them! one glass straw can keep thousands of plastic ones out of the landfill! woot!

  2. Hi Lisa

I love pea soup and those samosas look both fabulous and achievable. Have you seen Russell James' samosas? Beautiful but a bit too complicated for me.

I went over to strawsome to check out their straws (plastic straws are ugly on so many levels) and couldn't resist ordering a set as a treat for my raw food rehab smoothies!

Your menus just keep getting better and better. I'd take one of those pies for breakfast. It's packed with raw fuel to power you through your day. It also looks gorgeous/delicious.

Congrats on winning straws and giving straws. I love how they come in different colors.

Great recipes this week — I plan on making all of them (my husband will love that little pecan pie! And I will love a stays-scoopable raw ice cream!) plus I have a case of mangoes so that samosa recipe is calling my name.

Anyway, I checked out the Strawsome site and they are cute! I like the artsy designs and appreciate learning about how strong they are. I think glass straws are cool not just for how they prevent plastic straws from adding to our garbage but because whatever you're sipping feels extra-special with a fancy straw between your lips. What a great way to be more present and feel love as we eat/drink.

p.s. I'm now following you via Google Connect too.
Thanks for the yummy recipes this week. Cool menu stationary too. πŸ™‚

  23. bitt of raw says:

    pie for breakfast…excellent!

i love that you made a simpler version of a raw samosa. i have made elaina love's but they are kinda complex.

i would like to enter the strawsome contest. i love that their straws are so pretty.

  24. bitt of raw says:

    following you!

What I like about the straws is that it's reusable! I bet a lot of straws are dumped into landfills but this would save a lot of unnecessary trash!

  26. Amy says:

I like the reusable factor! Plus the fact that it's less plastic around the house and the kids don't have to slurp plastic chemicals as well. πŸ™‚

  27. Crystal T. says:

I love that these straws are reusable – how great to not be tossing a plastic tube in a landfill every time you want to use a straw. There are some very cute and festive designs over there!

  28. Misty says:

Reusable! Need I say more?? Pure awesomeness πŸ™‚

  29. Those are cool straws! I love the bent straws and the kids straws. Very cool! Thanks for sharing and offering the giveaway : )

  33. Isle Dance says:

I'll decline entering, 'cause that would be wrong (someone else needs these lovelies, too!), but let me just say: I love that you are giving away glass straws, too!

And I'm going to try that delectable pea soup and ice cream soon!

Thank you SO much for helping us create yummy raw food!

  34. Angela says:

I can't believe I've never tripped over glass straws before…I'm not sure I'd be able to choose just one to try out.

I do love borosilicate glass though, and have bent my fair share in labs. Great idea.

I love that they would be sturdy and easy to use. Cleaning them might be a bit harder but being glass they wouldn't hold onto flavors like the bendy or fun straws do. And you could use them for ages.

  35. Earth Mother says:

That soup just makes me so happy. It screams SPRING, don'cha think? I could dive right into a big bowl. Mmmm.

I actually like the Strawsome designs better than GlassDharma. Shhhhhh. I'm rather smitten with this Pretty Set of 2.

  39. Tess says:

I love that the straws are wide, have their own little brush, and are reusable!

As always, everything you make looks amazing. I love pecan pie for breakfast! Oh man…

  40. ~m says:

The samosas look so good, I love the list of ingredients and can't wait to taste them myself!

The straws– I thought the designs were just to make them pretty, I didn't realize the raised design part will also prevent the straw from rolling.

  41. Diana says:

What an exciting menu this is!!! I love doing homemade ice cream but have yet to try an avocado version–I usually just use canned coconut milk, but I know what you mean with the iciness. Dying to try your recipe!

  42. Aaron says:

I just love the idea of glass straws! BPA phalate free is so welcome as is the reusable quality. One time investment for years of enjoyment!

I love this site, and the ebook. For anybody following comments, the ebook is worth the price just to get the chocolate cake recipe!!!

As for the straws, I love the eco-friendly-ness of them…. plus, they're just plain GORGEOUS.

  48. Ms.Erika says:

    Oh, and I follow you!

  49. Kate says:

I like the glass straws because they are beautiful!

  51. acadaca says:

    Your samosas look delicious.

When I was little my relatives would save plastic straws and wash them out. I found it kind of disturbing. Glass straws solve everyone's problems.

  52. Ashley says:

Those straws and your blog are delightful! I love that they are artistic, reusable, and GORGEOUS! Your blog is also delightful, you have found yourself a new follower. πŸ™‚

  53. kelseycliche says:

I love smoothies! I like to sneak them into work in a stainless steel water bottle so I don't gross out my coworkers with the tasty green sludge. I hate that I have to throw regular straws away, and a green mustache isn't too appealing at work…so a glass straw would be handy!

  54. Anonymous says:

Love the idea of being able to use a straw without having to throw that straw away.

  55. Wow, I'd never heard of glass straws before now! They sound fabulous! I'd feel much better about things if I wasn't tossing out straws all the time from my many raw concoctions!
Also, love your blog! Most people are not concerned about writing out how much everything costs them to do! I'm glad someone (you) is doing this with raw, proving that raw doesn't have to be expensive! Love it!

  56. Wow, those samosas are really special. This is the first I've seen in the raw category, well done!

  57. Amber Shea says:
