MRS. Dash is not raw! And I see that you don't mention organic anything. If you are truly "RAW"? Well.. you should try to inspire people to discover "RAW" the right way! And using processed seasoning. What a shame. "RAW" is using the purest organic ingredients to nourish/heal/prevent the human body from disease.

    • Hi Anon, that's true. Most spices aren't technically raw. I have no problem using commercial spices. I really like having flexibility and options. If you don't like using any of the ingredients in any of my recipes, then by all means don't use them.

      Dear Anonymous —
As a non-RAW eater, I think it's best to first influence people to understand the benefits of RAW. Once people see that, they will gradually come over to RAW the best way they can. Some of us have to creep over to full compliance.

While your personal commitment is to be applauded, your approach could turn people off to the very thing you want them to embrace. FYI- we (including me) should learn that about other things we are passionate about. πŸ™‚

Take care and thanks for caring enough about the raw food movement to inform us. πŸ™‚

Her approach makes me want to eat MORE raw food, actually πŸ™‚

As one who is just getting started, this site is very helpful in learning how to eat raw and it's cost effective for someone on an extremely limited budget. While I use small, farmer stands/gardens to get most of my veggies, getting EVERYTHING organic is very expensive. Raw on $10 a Day (or less!) is a great resource and I LOVE the site!!! And Claire, said it best!

Dear Anonymous, calm down. Everyone else does not need to conform to your definition of RAW living. If you don't want to use packaged seasonings, finely chop a pepper of your choice and use that. In your eyes. Because you are too anal retentive for blog reading. Maybe you should live in a cave! Talk about RAW! πŸ˜€

    Oh SNAP! lol

  7. PKB says:

Awe, the above posts are a little sad to read. First Anon was just making a statement about true definition….which is a valid observation on her part. When I was first learning about "Raw" I thought it simply meant that you didn't "cook" the food. Silly me, over saw the not so obvious that my ingredients needed to be organic. I think that is the point she is making. The blog owner handled her response nicely. In cooking, we all improvise. I feel that while eating "Raw" while living in New York City, my diet is still compromised, simply because I am immersed in pollution ALL OF THE TIME. Point is, how "raw or organic" am I, as a being, if I'm constantly standing behind bus fumes?. With that, our delivery of messages should simply be voiced a little nicer, especially on these types of forums. We are all just sharing our ideas and discoveries on healthy living, screaming at each other doesn't positively contribute to the movement now does it? Oh, and I do not have the time to make homemade "Mrs. Dash" so sometimes we have to look at our ability to commit certain amounts of time to our recipes. I'll just spice it up my own and I can't wait to make this recipe.

This recipe sounds great to me…raw or not! Never had agave and not a big fan of dates, but I am going to try this. Looks too good to pass up. Thanks!

Sounds yummy… I'll definitely try it in the future. Right now my food budget is only $5-$10 a week, not a day, so it's a bit out of my budget. πŸ™‚

I made it tonight and my 12 year old daughter and I both loved it. I'm going to try it without the Agave next time because I want to taste the avocado more. Thank you for posting! πŸ™‚

  14. I have never had avocado like this. I have eaten it in pastry, probably taken it in beverages, enjoyed it in salads and of course, guacamole but this spicy thing that you've done looks interesting. Best of all, since it is eaten completely raw, there's no need to start a fire to prepare it.

You're right, it's substantial enough to be lunch, although I don't know if I would eat a whole avocado while I'm hiking or at work. Something about the effect it can have on the bowels.

LOL, I am very new to RAW and was looking for how to grill or cook this in the recipe..I thought "why was that left out!" Only took a split second to realize my silly thought. Thanks for the great laugh at myself! Cant wait to try it.

I am a beginner in raw food lifestyle. I found that raw recipes are always so complicated.
It's so nice to finally find a blog that can show you affordable ways to go raw.

I applaud you, Lisa. And there will always be unhappy people. Don't listen, because you're doing an unbelievable job. And if one person could just a little bit more raw, then you know you have done your job well.

Thank you again. You are making a great difference. πŸ˜€

This is by far my FAVORITE dressing. I fell in LOVE with it and now I can never eat a plain avocado again. You have ruined me lol. AMAZING!!!!! I told you I am hooked on this site. First recipe site I have ever signed up for and commented on the recipes. A must try! I used lemons instead of lime since that's what I had on hand.
