Orange Pumpkin Spice Drink

It was an perfect orange sunshiney day today. Almost 80 degrees, a clear blue sky, the Rouge Vif d’Etemps pumpkins were a glorious shade of orange magenta … and I hung out with my one year old nephew, Noah, who is, himself, a little ray of sunshine.
(When it comes to gardening, I say start ’em young!)
And amongst the pumpkins, we found this. Which is the black and bristly larvae of the …
Giant Leopard Moth … and who will become this:
This drink was also perfect, sunny, and absolutely orangelicious …
Orange Pumpkin Spice Drink
serves 2 ~ $.60 per serving
juice of two oranges ($1.00)
juice of one pineapple core
1 tablespoon agave ($.20)
scant 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
a few drops stevia, if desired
Juice the oranges and pineapple core. Pineapple cores can be a little too tough to eat, but they make a wonderful juice. Add the remaining ingredients and stir. It was warm enough today to serve chill in glasses rimmed with date palm sugar. (The red drink in the photo is strawberry and lime juice, with a little agave.)

  1. Aww, what a lovely little gardener. (He's young enough that we can still say "lovely" right?) 😉

  2. Yeah, he's definitely lovely, Fayinagirl!

  3. That little guy reminds me of my nephew, the little bugger into everything now…and that crawler that transformed into a butterfly!

15xx followers. No wonder I have 28, seeing as I burned through $10 on a lunch of CAFO beef today, plus $4 tip – of ill-gotten gains (of a sort). I hope you don't think badly of me.

A bit drunk on my home-made wine. A high alcohol content, from those frontenac grapes. Thought I'd drop a comment, seeing as I have not responded to you, for your checking in to my blog, some time ago. Blessings to you, and that cute little bugger.

Sweet photos of your nephew 🙂

Also, doesn't pumpkin pie spice make almost everything taste better right now? I've been putting it in EVERYTHING! Your juice sounds amazing.

What a beautiful blog you have! The photos of your nephew are beautiful and I love the path that led us to the incredible moth! I'm also very impressed how you are able to break down the cost of everything. I must admit I don't pay enough attention to that, so I appreciate learning from you.
And, your recipes look deliciious. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thank you for showing the moth-to-be! I'm guilty of being squeamish around bugs like that… I need to remember they'll become something beautiful, and that I shouldn't be scared!
